Boca Raton man threatens UBER driver with HIV infection

BOCA RATON, FL – According to Boca Raton Police, Matthew Steven Francis was arrested on multiple charges and put behind bars in the Palm Beach County Jail Saturday night.

Officials said that Francis faced multiple charges including robbery with a firearm, kidnap adult for ransom, and crimes against person as he threatened to criminally transmit HIV to an UBER driver.

His bond was set at $5,000 on the HIV charge. However, no bond was set on the robbery and kidnap charge.

According to police report, he threatened to inject the Uber driver with a substance that he claimed contained HIV. Even though the injection didn’t happen, the alleged kidnapping and robbery did take place.

Further details on his arrest are expected on Monday.
